Your child’s visit to the dentist may cause anxiety. Perhaps due to an unpleasant past experience or fear of the unknown.

To enhance manage your child's dental visit, you can also observe the following vital points:

• Schedule their appointment in the morning (after they have had a good night’s rest), as children tend to be cooperative during this time of the day;
• Try to personally accompany your child for their dental visit, especially if it is their first time;
• From the day before their appointment right till after their appointment, avoid exposing your child to stressful events;
• Avoid punishing them on the day of their appointment;
• Before and during their visit, try to resist giving instructions on how they should behave with the dentist.

• Familiarising with the dental environment to become fear-free regular dental attendees;
• Keeping track of their dental development;
• Ensuring that they have good oral health habits in place.

They should then be brought for a routine dental check-up once every 3 to 6 months or immediately if they experience any dental emergencies.
