About
Dr. Irene Sim graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery from the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 2006 and earned a Masters in Dental Surgery in Endodontics from NUS in 2011. She is a board-certified Specialist in Endodontics with the Singapore Dental Council and a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore (FAMS).
Dr. Sim has received multiple awards for her research and dedication to patient care, including the Singhealth Young! Publish award and the ORH ACP Young Clinician Publication award in 2016.
Professional Experience
Dr. Sim began her career at NHG polyclinics before moving to the National Dental Centre Singapore (NDCS), where she served on the infection control committee and mentored junior dental professionals. She has also lectured at Nanyang Polytechnic and continues to teach part-time at NUS. Dr. Sim is a key opinion leader for Dentsply and a certified VDW trainer, conducting workshops both locally and internationally.

Dr. Sim specialises in surgical and non-surgical endodontic treatments, with a focus on making nervous patients feel at ease. She utilises advanced technology, including the Zeiss Microscope, to ensure precise and effective treatment.

In addition to her professional interests in dental traumatology, revascularization, apexification, vital pulp therapy, non-vital bleaching, endodontic surgery, and cracked teeth management, Dr. Sim is deeply committed to giving back to society. Education & Achievements
Dr Irene Sim graduated from the National University of Singapore, Faculty of Dentistry with her Bachelor of Dental Surgery in 2006. She practiced at various NHG polyclinics for a few years before her passion in endodontics led her to pursue further specialist training.
Dr Sim was awarded a sponsorship from Singhealth and received her specialist training from both National Dental Centre Singapore (NDCS) and National University of Singapore (NUS).
She graduated with a Masters in Dental Surgery in Endodontics from the National University of Singapore in 2011 and was conferred a Membership in Endodontics from the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh in the same year . Dr Sim is a board-certified Specialist in Endodontics with the Singapore Dental Council and a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore (FAMS). She is also a member of the Society of Endodontists Singapore and Singapore Dental Association.
Prior to private practice, Dr Sim practiced at National Dental Centre Singapore (NDCS) where she was an infection control committee member as well as a supervisor to dental officers and oral hygiene therapists. During her years of service in NDCS, Dr Sim completed the Singhealth Leadership training program and received multiple awards which included the Singhealth Young! Publish award in 2016 as well as the ORH ACP Young Clinician Publication award in 2016 for her research in cracked teeth. She also received the Singapore Health Quality Service Awards in recognition of her outstanding care to patients.
Lecturer
Dr Sim enjoys teaching and was a lecturer for the endodontic module at Nanyang Polytechnic OHT Diploma (Diploma in Hygiene & Therapy) in 2013 – 2015. She is currently an instructor at the Faculty of Dentistry, NUS where she teaches Undergraduate students on a part time basis. Dr Sim is also a key opinion for Dentsply and a certified VDW teacher/trainer who conducts lectures/workshops both locally and internationally. Countries that she has been invited to include Italy, Taiwan, Philippines, Malaysia amongst others.
Specialities & Services Provided
Dr Sim has a knack for putting nervous patients at ease. It is not uncommon for patients to fall asleep in her chair whilst undergoing root canal treatment. She is able to manage all endodontic (root canal) related conditions, both surgically and non-surgically.
Technology Used
Dr Sim believes in staying at the forefront of technology and uses the latest Zeiss Microscope to increase the accuracy and efficiency of the procedures she performs. This microscope comes with augmented visualization modes that allow illumination and visualization of regions that are otherwise difficult to see; allowing Dr Sim to achieve the highest level of performance and results – both functionally and aesthetically.
Place of Consultation
Dr Sim is available for consultation at Nuffield Dental Jewel (Orchard). Treatment for nervous patients can be carried out under Intravenous Sedation at these clinics or under General Anaesthesia.
